The Northshore

Around these parts everybody goes "up north." I have lived in Wisconsin/Minnesota for most of my life and have never really taken a trip up north. My family would always vacation in Utah, so I have been to a lot of state and national parks out there. Well, my mom got a tip from her bookkeeper about these cute little cabins right on Lake Superior. She brought my dad up there last year for a little getaway, and they loved it. I couldn't wait for our chance to go up because it sounded like something I would really enjoy.

I was right! I loved it too! We went up there Memorial Day weekend, and it was wonderful. It was the first little vacation we have taken with the boys, and it was a great little test run for Park City. We stayed in a cabin a few miles north of Two Harbors, and we were right on Lake Superior. It was so beautiful and tranquil. The weather was perfect, and I discovered a new hobby that I am obsessed with.

On Sunday we went down to the beach a little ways from our cabin to look for agates. The beaches up there are covered in rocks, rocks, and agates. Trying to find them is like a treasure hunt. Everybody was getting into it. We were there for two hours, and the only reason we left was because Daxton was getting hungry. Quinn loved digging through the rocks and throwing them in the big lake. At one point he was just sitting there by himself tossing rocks in the lake while singing songs. He is too adorable.

We were a little hesitant about going because we weren't sure how the boys would do, but I am really glad that we did. I now understand why everyone goes "up north."

I figured since we were up north in a cabin I wasn't going to bring any makeup. Slightly liberating, but not so great for pictures.

This is a big boat docked at Two Harbors, and we sat on the breakwater to watch one coming in.

This is a really big boat. It seemed too big to comprehend, especially when it was right in front of us.

Christian and Quinn slept on the air mattress together. So cute!
