Almost 19 weeks

I hate to say that I'm 18 weeks pregnant when I will be 19 weeks on Sunday. Close enough right? It's hard to say if there is anything different with this pregnancy compared to Quinn's because they both have been pretty easy. The biggest difference with this one is that I want vegetables. I made creamed cucumbers the other day and ate them all by myself (not just because I'm pregnant. I would've shared but Chris doesn't like them). Their vinegary chilled goodness hit the spot.

My plan to avoid gaining unnecessary weight is to walk most days of the week, weather and Quinn permitting. That is what I did with Quinn and it seemed to work. When I say I go for walks I don't mean a twenty minute jaunt around the block. We are out for almost an hour and I always include a steep hill or two to get my heart pumping. Otherwise I don't see the point in going.

As far as eating goes, I don't restrict what I eat, but I don't go crazy just because I'm pregnant. I pretty much eat normal. My rule of thumb for my diet is very little to no pop or juice and rarely, rarely eat fast food, like burgers and fries type of fast food. I mostly eat homemade meals and treats. To me, that is the only way to go.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you everyone had a great day filled with love and chocolate. I personally don't make a big deal out of this holiday. It may be because my birthday is the week before and our anniversary is a week after. I also feel like a day where everyone is forced to show their special someone they love them isn't so special because it's more about the pressures of society and less sincere.

However, we did have a good day. Christian worked his last day at Goldsmith on Wednesday so he didn't have to go to work today which was really nice. We ended up going to the mall and completed my birthday present by buying two blouses and enjoyed an early dinner at Zupas.

The highlight of the day was this evening when Quinn was sitting on the futon next to Christian and started playing with some diapers. It progressed to the point where he thought it would be funny to  feed one to his dad. The video tells all...

Happy Birthday to Me!

I celebrated my 25th birthday this week. I have been married for five years, am pregnant with my second child, graduated from college, and now I can finally rent a car! What a big milestone. It was a good birthday. Chris and I went to see the Lego Movie, and we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was really great since we hardly get out anymore (in a good way). We also made our annual trip to DSW where I got some shoes and a LBP (little black purse) to use when I don't have to take Quinn's diaper bag. Everyone says 25 is a great year so I'm looking forward to it.

I am also 17 weeks pregnant. I feel like the time is going by a lot faster with this pregnancy. We will learn the gender on March 4....we are so excited! I just hope that the baby is healthy and growing. I don't care what the gender is. If it's a boy we can use all of Quinn's clothes. If it's a girl, we will have our girl and a balanced little family.

I hate to say that this pregnancy has been easier than Quinn's so far if that is even possible. I wasn't as sick during the first trimester and things are progressing smoothly. My stomach is starting to pop out. I don't think I look pregnant yet, it just looks like I've put on a few pounds which wouldn't be far off taking into consideration all of the treats I have been eating lately. There hasn't been one specific food I've been craving. For a while I just wanted fresh, cool, crisp vegetables. Thai lettuce wraps sum up that craving perfectly. I don't particularly favor anything right now. It's difficult to pinpoint what sounds good; consequently, I haven't been so good about making dinner. Christian has made a lot of trips to Kneaders lately. I'm not complaining, but it probably isn't the best fiscal option.

Derek stopped by to have some of Christian's "going away cake" (oh yeah, he is quitting Goldsmith) and he and Quinn were matching...and so it begins...

We celebrated mine and Noah's birthdays on Sunday at Shanda's house.

10 Months Old

Quinn turned 10 months yesterday! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday he was just a little infant. Now he sleeps through the night, walks around the room, and eats a wide variety of foods. He loves his blankie, running around without clothes, carrying around a can of soup, looking through his books, and playing on the stairs. He still gets a huge smile on his face when Chris gets home work, and Leeroy has to take high ground to get away from him. It has been a great ten months, and I look forward to watching our new little baby following in Quinn's steps. Becoming a mom has been the greatest blessing in my life.

The easiest way to get Quinn to actually smile for a picture is to flip the camera on my phone around so he can see himself and take a selfie. Hopefully this doesn't lead to narcissism.

We were getting ready to go out for the day and once I got his jeans on I couldn't resist...impromptu photo shoot!

In Case You Haven't Heard...

I would like to officially announce that we are pregnant with our second child! I wanted to wait to put it on the internet until I was through with the first trimester to avoid any awkward posts. I am 12 weeks pregnant and survived the first 3 months. Compared to Quinn, they really weren't that bad. There was a short time period when I felt crappy and didn't want to eat anything, but unlike Quinn, it didn't last the whole 12 weeks.

We had our first doctor's appointment last Thursday and everything looks good. They did an ultrasound, and I was a little worried that there wouldn't be anything there because I have felt pretty great. My fears were set aside when a little baby showed up on the screen. It had a strong heart beat, and the measurements were right on track. Everything is looking good. I'm hoping this pregnancy is as easy as Quinn's...we will see.

Quinn took his first consecutive steps tonight. I think it was four. We clapped and cheered, but do I really want him walking this soon? He already gets into everything and gets past any barrier we build. He is definitely a strong and a smart kid.

Victory!

I am really ashamed to admit this but Quinn is nine months old and I haven't let him soothe himself to sleep. This proves how little I know about babies. I have always heard that you put your baby in his crib and let him cry himself to sleep, but I just didn't understand how that actually works. When we have tried it it seemed like Quinn would work himself up so much that he wouldn't be able to calm down without us comforting him. Well, last night we tried it and he screamed and screamed so Chris took him out, and it took two hours before he finally fell asleep. Tonight I gave him a bath, read him a story, said prayers, and put him in his crib. His crying wasn't as frantic tonight and after about twenty-five minutes miracle of miracles, he fell asleep! I can't believe it! It actually worked. My baby can now continue in his development. Hopefully I didn't ruin him by waiting too long.

Mark it down in the record books. December 29, Quinn officially took his first step. He lunged towards furniture a few times up at Ed and Joann's, but he took a step without holding onto anything or grabbing onto something afterwards yesterday down at Steadman's. Yay! He is on his way to being able to get into more mischief.

Baby's First Christmas

Happy Holidays everyone! We had a wonderful little Christmas vacation. We got to see lots of grandmas and grandpas, cousins, and aunts and uncles. We stayed at so many different places by Christmas day, after laying down for twenty minutes, I woke up and had no idea where I was.

Park City was beautiful and picturesque. It snowed almost the whole time we were there, so we stayed cooped up in our Deer Valley condo. No complaints here.

Do you think he looks like Papa?

From Park City we stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth's and attended the White Family Christmas Party. We got to see a lot of family we haven't seen for a while, including some other little babies.

After Grandma's we stayed home for two nights to prepare for the Christmas festivities at Ed and JoAnn's. We went up to Draper on Christmas Eve where we enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner and opened the first presents of Christmas (i.e. jammies).

I don't think this picture really looks like him, but this gives you an idea of what he does every time I try to sneakily take a picture of him--he charges towards me and gets whatever part of the camera he can in his mouth. In this picture it's the lens cap.

I look dumb, but it's funny because it looks like Quinn is punching the camera.

Kira's two kids, Reese and Riley, played a beautiful Mary and Joseph while we read the Christmas story out of the scriptures. Riley lasted for about a minute before he ripped off his costume and started kicking the baby Jesus. It made things a little more entertaining.

Quinn got to test out his social skills with 11 month old Max (Ashley's baby). They tried to poke and prod each other for a greeting while the moms tried to tell them to be soft and gentle, but what about baby boys is soft and gentle? Also, Quinn was more interested in the bow than trying to open the present, which is surprising because he loves crinkly things and ripping things. That should be the perfect combination for opening presents, but the shiny bow trumped them both. Max (2 months his senior) eventually opened his jammies for him.

Dad and baby in their jammies.

We could not keep him away from the tree, and after he got a hold of his first bow, he wanted them all.

Christmas morning (don't be fooled, he still didn't open his own presents).

We had a great Christmas and hope that everyone else did too! Now we are ready to get back into our regular routine and look forward to a new year.
